I get the sneaking impression that about 1/3 of the country have forgotten how we got here or WHY.
OPPRESSION, TYRANNY, LACK OF FREEDOMS.
THAT IS WHY my ancestors and probably yours CAME HERE, mine in 1597 (originally from Scotland and Ireland)... fleeing the oppression of the British.
The founding fathers worked their asses off to design and found a country where PERSONAL FREEDOM was paramount, within only a few bounds . FREE SPEECH was and always has been a protected right under our constitution AS LONG AS your speech harms no one like hollering FIRE in a crowded theatre when there isn't one.
We somehow have allowed a bunch of constitutionally ignorant ASSHOLES who have NO sense of American HISTORY OR VALUES, nor do they want anyone but themselves to be considered worthy of American values to take over and abscond with both political power and no good sense. That means NO BLACKS, NO JEWS, NO LGBTQ, NO WOMEN, NO INDIANS, NO MUSLIMS, NO MOAH. AND GOD KNOWS NO POOR. OR SICK, OR ANYTHING but white males over 50.
PARTY OVER COUNTRY, AND EVERYONE IN IT AND THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT COUNT ARE THE ONES IN YOUR TRIBE.
Tribe? How quaint, but that is what American politics have gotten to. Tribalism. Big Chief Sitting Shit (Trump) must be just drooling in his gruel.
OH YEH, THAT'S REAL AMERICAN. NO DOUBT, THOMAS JEFFERSON AND GEORGE WASHINGTON WERE ALWAYS REAL INTO THAT. "WE THE PEOPLE" meant me and you and your immed fam (not weird Uncle Goober of course, he smells) and NO JUAN...ELSE.
I guess Thurgood Marshall and Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg (double whammy... a woman AND Jewish... EGAD) aren't and never were members of SCOTUS, Barack Obama was an aberration, and DR MLK Jr was a rabble rouser who deserved to be assassinated along with the Kennedy Brothers... and Charles Manson was damn near a deity.

People like Alabama Governor Kay Ivey (R-AL) have shown their true colors. Bigots and racists and surreal people with NO CORE VALUES that even remotely resemble American Core Values historically.

Most of these Weirdos have done pretty well under the America I have known, the average annual income of Trump voters and Republicans is WELL ABOVE the national average by at least a third. BUT THESE PO DWEEBS jest feel SOOO woebegone and left out and OH WOE IS ME.
Republicans should be renamed the WHINYISTS and with NO REAL GOOD REASON to be but that doesn't seem to be stopping any of them...and now I don't feel comfortable going to the Middle East later this month thanks to Trump and his egregiously dangerous moves about the Israeli capital and the placement of our Embassy. 86 countries have embassies in Israel...IN TEL AVIV, and NOT ONE in Jerusalem. PRECISELY because it has been customary but also because no one (UNTIL NOW) has wanted to incite the unrest and violence that such a move will cause. World leaders have universally denounced Trump's move to cause what will undoubtedly become a conflagration FOR GOOD REASON, but he ignores EVERYONE. HIS OWN ADVISORS have pleaded with him not to do this for that very reason. But of course HE KNOWS BEST. He knows SQUAT, except his own ego. Narcissistic asshole.
I really was looking forward to going to Israel and now? It will be too dangerous according to anyone with a brain who knows the region.

Oh well, maybe in the next millennium (IF THERE IS ANYTHING LEFT OF EITHER AMERICA OR THE MIDDLE EAST BY THEN)...
To me, in conclusion, one of the MOST EGREGIOUS SINS of this modern version of the GOP is this party over EVERYTHING ELSE. TO THE POINT. THEY CAN EXCUSE CHILD MOLESTATION as long as the pervert is a Republican. Trump was right. He could stand on 5th avenue firing a shotgun and slaughtering people all over the place and he would be forgiven by his BASE/TRIBE. (He would probably call ahead to warn so he wouldn't hit any of his base. SO thoughtful.)
